Could the body discovered at Koromey be a victim of Extra Judicial Killing?

Two weeks ago, the country was in a deep shock when stories of decomposing bodies of three Somali young men found in a river at Muranga county spread all over.

Hardly had this reality settled, the discovery of a new body in Mandera with similar operandi found in a small village called Koromey that is 10 kilometers from Mandera county started circulating in social media

According to a witness from the village the body stayed there for a month even after the resident reported it to the police

‘’ We reported to the police earlier this month but they never bothered to come and collect the body’’  Mzee Mohamed told this blog.

On 27^th August 2014, the police visited the scene where the body lied for about a month for the first time after the area chief constantly reported on the same. Abdi ( Not his real name )confirmed this to the investigators of the this blog who visited the area.

On the same day the police dropped the body at the Mandera referral morgue, plans of secret burial to cover up the discovery of the body begun. However this was leaked to the public by some of the morgue attendants.

 ‘’I never wanted the body to be buried hurriedly. I personally know several families whose Kids are missing. Releasing of body to unauthorized persons is against morgue rules too’’ A morgue attendant seeking anonymity told this blog .

The spread of the news that a completely decomposed body is in Mandera mortuary attracted three families whose kids have been missing for over three month. On the same day the secret burial by the police was to happen three families separately requested identification of the same body this stopped the police from their activity. The hospital administration ruled that forensic investigation to be carried out to identify the body.

Analysis of the body and the crime scene shows a modus operandi similar to that of the bodies earlier discovered in other parts of the country that is believed to be an Extra judicial killings. There has been an increased Extra judicial killings in the country suspected to be done by the members of the security forces to suspected terrorist without due process

Analysis at the scene of crime

1)      A five litre jerry can containing Concentrated sulphuric acid was at the scene. This may have been probably used to incinerate the body to accelerate decomposition. Incineration done by acids do not have smell hence reduces suspicious stench smell.  Make judgment who can take enough time to commit a felony and try to burry evidence?

2)      Surgical gloves. This indicates the killers knew they could be traced if they use bare hand on the person and hence made no physical contacts. This reduces impromptu killer – An evidence of well planned murder probably by – be your judge 

 3)      Waist belt at the crime scene. Most probably could have been used to strangle. A huge space in the cervical vertebrae of the body confirms strangling.

Analysis on the body  

A doctor seeking anonymity who carried out first body analysis at the morgue before admission confirmed to this blog complete evidence of body parts distortions that clearly point a homicide from torture.

‘’The skull had a bullet hole that caused the death ‘’ says the doctor. Pictures of the skull clearly shows a bullet hole

The doctor added bone of the fingers and toes(Phallenges) were all burnt an indication that an extreme torture probably happened before killing

Picture sent to this blog too can confidently establish that the bones of the ribs were broken and indication of extreme beatings

'’From the analysis I carried out I can confidently say this is a homicide that was most probably done by people who took time to inflict severe injuries before ultimately killing’’ added the doctor

Discovery of this body has lead toa wide spread fear in the county.

A resident seeking anonymity for fear of victimatization told the blog that now parent are encouraging their kids to go to boarding school or travel out of the county to be safe from the security forces
